Now with no SSL!
Yeast Hour, Powermac, and other insane things.
Hi friends, good week. I bought an iPod! It's currently in the mail
and I'm super excited to get it. It's all refurbished and it's just
great. I want to not have my cellphone on me as much if I can. Living at
home it's hard, but I'm gonna do what I can obviously. I also want to
start buying compact discs and stuff. I want to own my music, not just
sort of rent it.
Hi everyone, the show went super well! Also now I'm going to a wedding with a coworker of Bailey's. Fun times. I guess advertising myself as single 24/7 pays off. I hope people know that's just a joke. I don't really have a ton of interest in relationships as a whole. But the show went really well. Waffle house was really on it afterwards, too. The highlight was probably hearing my song Untitled with a full band. Check out the pictures from the rehearsal/aftershow here! I've also added some new photos of my friends and I. Ciao!
Hi everyone, sorry for the delay. I've been really really busy with band practice and whatnot. But I'm here! I got a cable I needed for the PowerMacintosh G3 but I ran into a new problem: no monitor! I thought my shitty VGA one would do, but it says it doesn't recognize the signal. I'm gonna fuck around with it more tomorrow, but I think I need to just get an Apple one. I just read about maybe modding the studio display to LCD? May work. I'm scared of CRTs, I've never worked with them before. They're incredibly dangerous so I've got good reason to be afraid, too. Maybe I can meet someone who'd be willing to help. The high voltage stuff is just not my scene at all, but this could be a really cool project.
By the way, the band thing is going okay. We rehearsed the whole set today which went shockingly well. I hope this show goes okay. By the way, folks, I'm being filmed for a documentary which is pretty weird. He asked to see my Macintoshes. Right now I've only got 3. Maybe I should make some pages for them.
Hi. So, you may have noticed that the redesign isn't perfect on some browsers. I also fucked up compatibility with old browsers with the dropdowns. That should be fixed as soon as I push this new version. I also got my host to set up an SSL certificate so it's more easy to access now than ever. It's still a little wonky in that it won't work when you type www. So you have to put "http://chocolate3.net" instead of "http://www.chocolate3.net". I'll talk to my host about it. By the way the host I'm talking about is Macintosh Garden who I could not reccomend enough. Very helpful folks. Anyways, I want this site fixed so I'm gonna push this version. Bye!
Site has been completely redesigned. It took me all of yesterday and today but it was well worth it. It was also a fairly good distraction from the shitty things going on right now. It should look waaay nicer now and should be way cleaner and easier to use. I simplified a lot of stuff but also sorted things better. There's an actual navbar too now and not just a list. I'm really happy with it and I'm praying it works well once I actually make it live. I also hope I'm not killing OS9 compatibility. Anyways. I'm beat. Ciao!
Bad news, my friends. The studio display has died. I turned it on this morning and I heard a bang, then a sizzle. At that same time, I got a call from a potential job opening which I answered. It was Starbucks. As I spoke to the manager I was trying to hide that I was freaking out. It turns out I had the wrong store so she's gonna send the application over to the right one. But I unplugged the monitor obviously and I don't think it'll turn back on and I'm scared to try it! It's a shame, it was a beautiful monitor. And now my basement smells like fireworks. Sad day for America.
Hi! Today was a good day, I think. Fireworks are kinda neat, though I saw most of the good ones last night. Today I did get the PowerMac G3! It was a 2 hour drive and it cost me 75 bucks, but it was incredibly worth it. It hasn't got a hard drive but it seems to me like it'll run really nicely. It also had the original studio display and it's original massive boxes. The studio display is really something special. I plugged my PowerBook G3 PDQ into it and it looks AMAZING. I can't wait to get this guy set up with an SSD solution.
On a somewhat related note, my band is playing a show soon, like this coming week. I'm pretty nervous but I think it'll go okay. There are gonna be a ton of people, more than I expected. Many I don't know. We're doing mainly covers, so we'll see how that goes over. Sayonara!
P.S. I'll post pics soon!
Hi friends. I'm back! And I'm on a different hosting service too! Now there should be no SSL which is great. The past few weeks have been good or maybe more of a mixed bag. Something really horrible happened Thursday, my friend Alijah had an overdose and passed. I'm still really just torn up over it all. He was 18. I've been trying to distract myself as best I can with my various projects. Like I got a 1998 Powerbook G3 PDQ that I'm using to write this post. Tommorrow I'm going to Alexandria (2 hours away) to get a Powermac G3 with the original studio display and everything. Hoping that works out.
Today Bailey and his girlfriend Kate and I all went to Lincoln's birthplace and shot a 16mm film. Really really good times. I can't wait to do some more with them. Anyways, bye for now. I'll try to update if I get the Powermac! Ciao!
